The landmark Wealth Management Connect (WMC) pilot program in the Greater Bay Area saw solid results on its first day of operations on Tuesday, with strong demand for cross-boundary wealth management products, marking another crucial development in the ever-closer financial cooperation in the area. 

The program, which consists of a Southbound and a Northbound leg, made its debut with a total of over 30 million yuan in transaction in the first day. Retail investors in Hong Kong and Macao invested 15.4 million yuan in mainland wealth management products, and 17.7 million yuan of mainland investment went the other way, the Guangzhou branch of the central bank said. 

HSBC, Standard Chartered and Bank of China (Hong Kong), among the first batch of 19 lenders to get approval to sell the product in Hong Kong, said the response from customers to open bank accounts was positive, with many of them buying investment products across the border.

The launch of the WMC scheme on September 10 - Beijing's first scheme tailor-made for the 11 cities of the Greater Bay Area - marks a further opening up of China's capital market. The scheme has an initial quota of 300 billion yuan in fund flows in both directions, but each investor is only allowed to trade up to 1 million yuan on a net remittance basis.

备受关注的粤港澳大湾区“跨境理财通”首批业务19日成功落地，粤港澳大湾区三地居民饮“头啖汤”。

据中国人民银行初步统计，19日上午业务开通一小时后，大湾区境内9市、香港和澳门均已有业务体现。内地代销银行已成功通过人民币跨境支付系统（CIPS）为港澳个人投资者办理“北向通”投资资金入账41笔，涉及金额249.6万元。内地合作银行通过代理见证服务，协助港澳销售银行为粤港澳大湾区内地个人投资者开立“南向通”投资户115个，成功汇出投资资金8笔，涉及金额39.8万元。

10月19日晚间，央行广州分行公布，全天内地代销银行为港澳投资者办理“北向通”投资资金汇入180笔，金额1538.7万元。内地合作银行联动港澳销售银行，为大湾区内地投资者办理“南向通”投资资金汇出128笔，金额1773.3万元。

周一，人民银行深圳市中心支行、人民银行广州分行公布了辖区内完成报备的“跨境理财通”首批试点银行名单。当日，香港金融管理局公布了19家可开展跨境理财通业务的香港银行名单。香港多家试点银行表示，客户反应热烈，首日在香港和内地办理开户过程畅顺。

今年9月，“跨境理财通”正式启动，粤港澳大湾区内地和港澳投资者可通过区内银行体系建立的闭环式资金管道，跨境投资对方银行销售的合资格投资产品或理财产品。业内人士认为，“跨境理财通”为内地和港澳投资者提供更加便利、快捷的跨境金融服务体验，进一步彰显金融业对外开放窗口示范效应，为金融市场双向开放积累经验。

• The Chinese mainland reported 17 new local cases yesterday, most were from the northern provinces of Inner Mongolia and Gansu. Beijing strengthened epidemic control and prevention measures on Tuesday as one new local infection was reported.

• China is on track to revise the Anti-Monopoly Law as lawmakers began deliberating on draft amendments submitted to the country's top legislature on Tuesday. The draft revision aims to address major problems in the law's current implementation, as well as improve anti-monopoly system and increase penalties for monopolistic practices. 

  据新华社，反垄断法修正草案19日提请十三届全国人大常委会第三十一次会议初次审议。此次反垄断法修改加大对垄断行为的处罚力度，为强化反垄断和防止资本无序扩张提供更加明确的法律依据和更加有力的制度保障。

• China continued to see its housing market ease in September under strengthened market regulations, according to the National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday. New home prices in four first-tier cities stood unchanged in September from a month earlier, and prices of second-hand homes in the four cities edged down 0.4 percent last month from that in August, reversing the mild month-on-month increase seen in August.

  国家统计局最新公布的数据显示，9月份，70个大中城市商品住宅销售价格环比总体呈略降态势，同比涨幅持续回落。数据显示，9月份，一线城市新建商品住宅销售价格环比由上月上涨0.3%转为持平，二手住宅销售价格环比由上月上涨0.2%转为下降0.4%。

• Seven Chinese real estate giants had their credit ratings downgraded or outlooks changed by US credit rating agency Moody's on Monday. Greenland Holdings, Yango Group, China Aoyuan, Kaisa Group, Shinsun Holdings, R&F Properties and Zhongliang Holdings were downgraded mainly due to concerns over liquidity risks because of poor sales and financing prospects. 

  10月18日，国际评级机构穆迪下调七家房企的企业评级，包括绿地控股、阳光城、中国奥园、佳兆业、祥生控股集团、富力地产、中梁控股。从穆迪报告中看，如此密集地下调房企评级，系出于对房企未来销售、融资前景的不乐观，担忧其流动性出现风险。

• Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding unveiled a new server chip that is based on advanced 5-nanometer technology, marking a milestone in China’s pursuit of semiconductor self-sufficiency. The CPU chip will drive the company’s vast cloud computing operation. Share of the Hong Kong-listed Alibaba jumped 6.67 percent today.

  10月19日，在2021云栖大会现场，阿里巴巴旗下半导体公司平头哥发布自研云芯片倚天710。倚天710采用业界最先进的5nm工艺，是阿里云推进“一云多芯”策略的重要一步，也是阿里第一颗为云而生的CPU芯片，将在阿里云数据中心部署应用。今日，阿里巴巴港股大涨6.67%。

• China’s biggest mobile phone maker Xiaomi is on track to begin mass production of its brand new electric car line in the first half of 2024, the company chairman said on Tuesday. Today, Xiaomi’s share edged up 1.33 percent. 

  小米集团董事长雷军昨日在投资者日上公布，小米造车及团队各项工作的进展都远超他的预期，预计小米汽车于2024年上半年正式量产。今天，小米股价上涨1.33%。

• Foreign direct investment into the Chinese mainland, in terms of actual use, rose 19.6 percent year-on-year to 859.51 billion yuan in the first nine months of the year, the Ministry of Commerce said today. 

  中国商务部公布，今年1-9月，全国实际使用外资金额8595.1亿元人民币，同比增长19.6%，折合1292.6亿美元，同比增长25.2%。

• Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.17 percent, at 3587 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.33 percent lower at 14452 points. The Hang Seng Index closed 1.35 percent higher to stand at 26136 points.
