March 6 marked the Open Day of the Guangdong delegation at the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress. The venue was filled with technology and innovation—from AI glasses to AI toys, all these popular products, ranked based on purchases by global consumers, offer a vivid glimpse of how artificial intelligence is entering everyday life.
China’s government work report this year calls for building a new form of intelligent economy, expanding the “AI Plus” initiative across industries and daily life. In Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei, the “AI Eight Steeds” ranking reflects this trend from the consumer side. Unlike expert rankings, it is shaped by global consumers’ purchases, and during the Spring Festival, these products became some of the most popular tech items in Huaqiangbei.
Data show that since the ranking’s release, overall revenue in Huaqiangbei has risen 35%, with related product sales up 55%—drones +90%, AI glasses +80%, AI watches +40%, AI toys +200%, robots +30%, AI speakers +20%, AI translators +40%, and AI learning devices +30%.
Technology is closer to daily life than we imagine. Guangdong’s Open Day shows how a complete industrial chain, a vibrant innovation ecosystem, and expanding real-world applications are making the intelligent economy a reality.
