China kicked off the 2022 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit in the water town of Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang Province, on Wednesday, as the online industry discussed cyberspace governance and industrial digitalization, while Big Tech CEOs pledged support for the integration of China's digital and real economies.
More than 2,000 representatives from over 120 countries and regions gathered at the conference including top executives from Chinese internet giants like BAT (Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent), as well as internet talent and experts, under the theme of "Towards a Shared Digital Future in a Connected World -- Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace''.
Daniel Zhang Yong, the CEO of Alibaba Group, said that Alibaba will always take root in the real economy, actively participate in the construction of a community of shared future in cyberspace, make good use of digital technology to help medium- and small-sized enterprises, and accelerate the arrival of industrial changes.
JD.com is an enterprise that "originated from the real economy and will go back to the real economy", said JD's CEO Xu Lei at the forum. "As a new type of real enterprise, we have real economy enterprise in our DNA and digital technology capabilities. We deeply understand the needs and pain points of the real economy ... and play an important role in the new development pattern," said Xu.
Other well-known entrepreneurs including Qu Fang, founder of Xiaohongshu, Sohu founder Zhang Chaoyang, and Tesla China vice-president Tao Lin, are also attending this year's conference.
A bluebook for the World Internet Conference was released on Wednesday during the Wuzhen Summit. According to the report, China ranks the second in the world in terms of internet development after the US.
The bluebook also highlighted new progresses and achievements of China's internet development over the past year. According to the report, China leads the world in terms of information infrastructure construction, with the completion of the layout of integrated big data centers in the country.
2022年世界互联网大会乌镇峰会11月9日在浙江乌镇开幕。本届大会以“共建网络世界 共创数字未来——携手构建网络空间命运共同体”为主题，来自120多个国家和地区的2100多名嘉宾以线上线下方式参会。

作为第一代的互联网创业者，搜狐创始人、董事局主席兼首席执行官张朝阳自嘲是“中国互联网的化石”，从门户网站到综合平台，再到最新业态如直播，他都有所参与。而针对行业近一年讨论较多的元宇宙和Web3.0新概念，张朝阳认为，我们现在正朝3.0迈进，发展到最后是所谓的元宇宙。
小红书创始人瞿芳谈到平台当下面临的挑战，随着用户数量越来越多，对小红书来说生态治理是一大难题和重点，此前小红书在网信办的指导下，做了很多专项去营造更清朗的网络空间。
11月9日下午，中国网络空间研究院还在峰会上发布《中国互联网发展报告2022》和《世界互联网发展报告2022》蓝皮书。《中国互联网发展报告2022》显示，2021年中国数字经济规模达到45.5万亿元，占GDP比重达39.8%。《世界互联网发展报告2022》指出，数字技术创新仍是全球战略重点，是实现创新驱动生产力发展的先导性、关键性力量。2021年，全球47个国家的数字经济增加值规模达到38.1万亿美元，同比名义增长15.6%，占GDP的比重达到45.0%。
China will grant zero-tariff treatment to 98 percent of taxable items originating in 10 least-developed countries (LDC), according to a statement released by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Wednesday. Effective on December 1, China will waive all tariffs on 98 percent of the related imports from countries including Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau. The policy will cover 8,786 items, including agricultural products such as olive oil, cocoa powder and nuts, as well as various chemicals and product materials.

A total of $73.52 billion worth of tentative deals were reached for one-year purchases of goods and services at the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), up 3.9 percent from a year earlier, officials disclosed during the closing press briefing on Thursday.

Known as the GBA Youth Employment Scheme, or GBA YES, the program attracted more than 400 companies in various sectors offering job vacancies and has been warmly received by participating companies and young people.

Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products announced Wednesday that its second-generation Covid-19 vaccine has just started clinical trials in China and Uzbekistan. The recombinant protein vaccine is jointly developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical and the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and it will work on the Omicron and Delta strains, according to Zhifei Biological, adding that it can elicit a broader and stronger immune response than the first-generation.

Suning.Com refuted a rumor near Wednesday’s close of markets that a retailers’ cooperative has bought a majority stake in the struggling Chinese chain store. The rumor has driven the firm’s stock up by the exchange-imposed limit for two days running. Suning said it has checked with shareholders holding 5 percent or more of the company’s equity and can confirm that the acquisition rumor is not true.

Shares of Sai MicroElectronics plunged today after the German government banned the Chinese semiconductor company from purchasing the automotive chip assets of Germany’s Elmos Semiconductor. The German government issued a document to stop the acquisition by Sai MicroElectronics’ Swedish subsidiary Silex Microsystems. The firm will continue to pay attention to the automotive chip industry and related businesses, it noted.

Shares of Apple Inc. supplier GoerTek Inc. dived 10 percent for the second straight day, after it received notification from an "overseas major customer" asking it to suspend the production of a smart acoustic product, which analysts believe to be Apple's AirPods Pro 2 and the order has been given to rival Luxshare Precision Industry. The company expects the pause in the order to cut its 2022 revenue by up to 3.3 billion yuan. Other orders for the client are ongoing normally, GoerTek added.

The Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses have raised the first and second-largest amounts through initial public offerings in the first three quarters, said Fang Xinghai, vice chair of the China Securities Regulatory Commission at the SSE Global Investors Conference on Wednesday. China’s stock market financing is growing steadily, Fang said.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange will broaden its stock connect program, which currently links the bourse with those in Hong Kong, London, Zurich and Frankfurt, to include other major stock exchanges around the world, Qiu Yong, chairman of the Shanghai bourse said yesterday. The Shanghai bourse will strengthen cooperation with other stock exchanges in order to attract strongly performing overseas companies to issue Chinese depositary receipts in Shanghai. Since regulators started to allow overseas institutional investors to trade bonds in Shanghai in June, foreign firms have issued over 100 billion yuan worth of Belt and Road bonds and Panda bonds, Qiu said.

Chinese stocks ended lower on Thursday as the nation increased Covid restrictions in some of its biggest cities, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite down 0.39 percent and the Shenzhen Component dropped 1.33 percent. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng lost 1.7 percent, dragged by the auto and tech sectors as the TECH index fell 3.28 percent.
