China's total goods imports and exports nudged up 0.4 percent year-on-year to 23.55 trillion yuan in the first seven months, according to the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday.

In the January-July period, exports grew 1.5 percent year-on-year to 13.47 trillion yuan while imports edged down 1.1 percent from a year earlier to 10.08 trillion yuan, the data showed.

In July alone, the country's total foreign trade, however, witnessed a year-on-year decline of 8.3 percent and came in at 3.46 trillion yuan. In particular, exports fell 9.2 percent from a year ago to 2.02 trillion yuan while imports shrank 6.9 percent to 1.44 trillion yuan, according to the data.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations remained China's biggest trading partner in the first seven months, with the two sides' trade in goods rising 2.8 percent year-on-year to 3.59 trillion yuan. The value accounted for 15.3 percent of China's total during this period, the data showed.

Trade with countries along the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 8.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.4 percent year-on-year, faster than the overall growth rate. 

As the BRI embraces its 10th anniversary this year, experts said that the initiative has brought tangible benefits to countries along the route from infrastructure construction to enhanced cooperation in new energy and green development, providing a new model of co-development.

Exports to the European Union, meanwhile, declined by 20.6 percent year on year, while shipments to the United States dropped for the 12th consecutive month after falling by 23.1 percent in July.

Private enterprises, a main contributor to China's foreign trade, saw their combined imports and exports grow 6.7 percent year-on-year to 12.46 trillion yuan in the first seven months. The value represented 52.9 percent of the country's total foreign trade, the data showed.

Lv Daliang, a spokesperson for the GAC, attributed the poor export performance on "a weak global economic recovery, slowing global trade and investment, and rising unilateralism, protectionism and geopolitics," in comments at a news conference in Beijing.

While admitting pressures and fluctuations remain for China’s foreign trade, Lv stressed that the long-term positive fundamentals of China’s economy have not changed, adding that a slew of policy measures that rolled out lately is gradually taking effect.

受到世界经济复苏乏力的直接影响，我国外贸面临的压力尚未减弱。

海关总署今天（8月8日）公布，今年前7个月，我国货物贸易进出口总值23.55万亿元，外贸运行平稳、符合预期。

据海关统计，今年前7个月，我国进出口总值23.55万亿元人民币，同比增长0.4%。其中，出口13.47万亿元，增长1.5%；进口10.08万亿元，下降1.1%；贸易顺差3.39万亿元，扩大10.3%。按美元计价，今年前7个月我国进出口总值3.4万亿美元，下降6.1%。其中，出口1.94万亿美元，下降5%；进口1.46万亿美元，下降7.6%；贸易顺差4895.7亿美元，扩大3.5%。

从单月数据来看，今年7月份我国进出口3.46万亿元，下降8.3%。其中，出口2.02万亿元，下降9.2%；进口1.44万亿元，下降6.9%；贸易顺差5757亿元，收窄14.6%。按美元计价，今年7月份我国进出口4829.2亿美元，下降13.6%。其中，出口2817.6亿美元，下降14.5%；进口2011.6亿美元，下降12.4%；贸易顺差806亿美元，收窄19.4%。

对比今年6月份，以美元计，7月的进出口、出口和进口降幅分别扩大了3.5、2.1和5.6个百分点。

从具体的出口目的地来看，我国对第一大贸易伙伴东盟的出口保持增长，自欧盟、美国进口呈现增长。前7个月，我国与东盟贸易总值为3.59万亿元，增长2.8%，占我外贸总值的15.3%。其中，对东盟出口2.11万亿元，增长4.7%；自东盟进口1.48万亿元，增长0.2%；对东盟贸易顺差6275.1亿元，扩大17%。

欧盟作为我国第二大贸易伙伴，双边贸易总值为3.22万亿元，下降0.1%，占13.7%。其中，对欧盟出口2.08万亿元，下降2.6%；自欧盟进口1.14万亿元，增长5.1%；对欧盟贸易顺差9433.4亿元，收窄10.5%。美国作为我国第三大贸易伙伴继续下降，双边的贸易总值为2.64万亿元，下降9.6%，占11.2%。其中，对美国出口1.95万亿元，下降13%；自美国进口6911.2亿元，增长2%；对美贸易顺差1.26万亿元，收窄19.5%。

同期，我国对“一带一路”沿线国家合计进出口8.06万亿元，增长7.4%。其中，出口4.76万亿元，增长12.6%；进口3.3万亿元，增长0.5%。

从结构来看，前7个月，我国出口机电产品7.83万亿元，增长4.4%，占出口总值的58.1%。其中，自动数据处理设备及其零部件7351.5亿元，下降19.8%；手机4623.6亿元，下降6.5%；汽车3837.3亿元，增长118.5%。同期，出口劳密产品2.34万亿元，下降2.1%，占17.4%。

“当前，世界经济复苏乏力，全球贸易投资放缓，单边主义、保护主义和地缘政治等风险上升，外需减弱对我外贸的直接影响仍在持续。”海关总署新闻发言人、统计分析司司长吕大良近日在国新办发布会上表示。

吕大良认为，当前我国外贸确实有压力、有起伏、有挑战，但道阻且长，行则将至。我国经济长期向好的基本面没有变，加上良好的产业体系和完备的生产能力，外贸发展韧性足、回旋余地大。同时，陆续出台的一系列稳外贸政策措施，其综合效应正在持续显现，推动外贸稳规模优结构仍然具有坚实的支撑。

• Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, has joined several other Chinese cities in its attempt to reverse the aging population by introducing cash subsidies of up to 25,000 yuan for families with three children. In addition to the 5,000 yuan maternity allowance, the eastern city will transfer 20,000 yuan to families that brought their third child into the world since Jan. 1, the municipal health commission announced yesterday. For a second child, the city will give a 5,000 yuan subsidy and a 2,000 yuan maternity allowance. Transfers are set to start on Sept. 10.

  杭州加码多孩家庭补贴：8月7日，杭州市卫健委发布《杭州市育儿补助实施办法（试行）》和《关于做好我市育儿补助发放工作的通知》，对符合条件的二孩及三孩家庭在育儿消费和托育服务方面给予支持，以降低多孩家庭育儿成本。《办法》从孕产补助和育儿补助两方面对符合条件的二孩及三孩家庭给予支持。怀孕（生产）二孩给予一次性补助2000元，怀孕（生产）三孩给予一次性补助5000元。同时，生育二孩给予一次性补助5000元，生育三孩给予一次性补助20000元。办法自2023年9月10日起施行。

• Shanghai plans to have more than 50 percent of the new vehicles purchased by individuals to be pure electric cars and have over 10,000 fuel cell vehicles on the road by 2025, according to an ambitious clean air action plan for the next three years rolled out by the metropolis yesterday. The city will also promote the use of clean energies by ships and cargo water transport, according to the Shanghai Clean Air Action Plan (2023-2025). Renewable energies should account for 20 percent of the city’s total energy consumption by 2025, while coal-fired energy will be reduced to under 30 percent, it said. 

  上海2025年个人新购纯电动车超50%：8月7日，上海市政府正式发布了《上海市清洁空气行动计划（2023—2025年）》。这一计划的主要目标之一，是到2025年，燃料电池汽车应用总量力争突破1万辆，个人新增购置车辆中纯电动车辆占比超过50%。力争到2025年，非化石能源占能源消费总量比重达到20%，全市煤炭消费占一次能源消费比重力争降至30%以下。此外，还将实施更严格的船舶排放控制区，加快港区非道路移动源清洁化替代，推进内港码头岸电标准化和外港码头专业化泊位岸电全覆盖。

• Ant Group, the fintech arm of Alibaba Group, will reduce its stake in Indian fintech payment company Paytm to 13.5 percent from 23.8 percent amid a worsening investment environment in the South Asian country, media reported on Monday. The 10.3 percent stake, valued at about $628 million, will be transferred from Ant's Netherlands company Antfin to a Netherlands group owned by Paytm's founder and chief executive Vijay Shekhar Sharma, according to the report.

• The clean energy system at the Xinli oil extraction plant sector III of Northeast China's Jilin oil field under the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has recently entered official operations, marking China realizing zero carbon emissions in crude oil extraction, CNPC said on Tuesday. The oil giant said the sector uses 100 percent of clean electricity from self-built wind and photovoltaic power generators. The heating power of the sector is collected from geothermal, solar power and air heat pump, which can save 600,000 cubic meters of natural gas each year.

  中石油产出国内首桶“零碳原油”：8月8日中石油消息，其所属吉林油田新立采油厂Ⅲ区块光热系统，日前正式并网运行，标志着亚洲最大陆上采油平台集群零碳示范区建成投运。该示范区产出了中国第一桶“零碳原油”。吉林油田方面介绍，吉林油田通过建设风光发电、储能替代网电，实现了新立采油厂Ⅲ区块100%绿电替代；通过地热、光热、空气源热部分替代天然气加热，实现区块部分热力清洁替代，年可替代天然气60万立方米。

• Shares of almost 150 of the nearly 510 listed healthcare companies in China have dropped for seven days or more, and more than 50 of them have slumped by more than 10 percent after China’s top anti-corruption watchdog on July 21 announced a year-long campaign to tackle widespread graft in the pharmaceutical sector, according to Wind data. The sector recorded a loss of market value totaling 215 billion yuan within a single day, with over 90 percent of pharmaceutical stocks down on Monday. According to media calculation, at least 155 hospital presidents in China have been investigated this year as of July 26, more than double the number in the whole of last year.

• Shares of China's second-largest chip foundry Hua Hong Semiconductor rose on its debut on the country's NASDAQ-style sci-tech innovation board - known as the STAR Market in Shanghai - on Monday after raising 21.2 billion yuan, the largest IPO in the A-share market so far this year. Hua Hong issued 408 million shares at 52 yuan each with the market capitalization reaching 89.2 billion yuan.

• Chinese telecom giant Huawei Technologies on Monday rushed to clarify that its newly established real estate firm will only focus on housing for the company’s staff, and is not part of a move into the property sector. Media reports on Monday said Huawei had set up a real estate firm with registered capital of 1.5 billion yuan, instantly setting off speculation about the tech giant’s plans for the real estate market. “The company is mainly responsible for the construction and management of supporting housing for Huawei staff, and has no attributes for external real estate business,” a source familiar with the matter said.

  华为辟谣15亿进军房地产：8月7日，根据工商登记信息，华为新近设立了东莞棠雅实业投资有限责任公司，注册资金达15亿人民币，核心业务涵盖住房租赁、商业地产租赁、园区运营服务等多个方向。华为创建地产投资公司的消息引发了公众的广泛关注和推测。对此相关的消息人士明确表示，该企业的主要职责是负责构建和管理员工住房，而并不计划扩展至外部的房地产市场。

• Huawei and Chery Automobile will release their new electric coupe this quarter, and it will be the first model to use the newly released HarmonyOS 4 operating system, Huawei said on Monday. The new model is the first to come out of Huawei’s partnership with Chery and is part of the Luxeed brand. Chery announced last year that the two plan to release at least five high-end smart electric models, with two to be launched this year.  

  华为牵手奇瑞搭载鸿蒙系统：8月7日，华为常务董事、终端BG CEO、智能汽车解决方案BU CEO余承东微博发文称：“华为智选车业务首款纯电轿跑将首次搭载鸿蒙HarmonyOS 4。”并发布了悬挂“LUXEED”字母标的新车渲染图。有消息称，奇瑞汽车与华为在高端智能电动车方面至少规划5款车型，计划在今年推出其中两款。

• China's top financial regulator has asked insurance companies to accelerate payment of claims related to the recent torrential rains in multiple places across the country. The National Administration of Financial Regulation (NAFR) required insurers to open green channels for disaster claims, accept reports through various channels, and maximize the simplification of claim procedures. As of 10 am on Sunday, 16 disaster-hit areas including Beijing, Hebei and Heilongjiang provinces had reported 189,100 claims with damage worth 6.24 billion yuan. A total of 50,600 claims have been paid, and the amount of compensation came in at 264 million yuan, data from the NAFR showed.

  金融监管总局明确应赔尽赔快赔：8月6日从国家金融监督管理总局获悉，截至8月6日10时，河北、北京、黑龙江等16个受灾地区的保险机构收到保险报案18.91万件，估损金额62.41亿元。目前已赔付案件5.06万件，赔付金额2.64亿元。金融监管总局要求金融机构全力提升灾害事故处置效率，确保应赔尽赔、应赔快赔，坚持“特事特办、急事急办”，最大限度优化简化理赔流程和手续，切实把保障人民群众生命财产安全放到第一位落到实处。

• Chinese stocks fell on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite down 0.3 percent, and the Shenzhen Component shed 0.4 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index sank 1.8 percent, while the TECH index plunged 2.8 percent.

• A fuel cell vehicle (FCV) or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is an electric vehicle that uses a fuel cell, sometimes in combination with a small battery or super-capacitor, to power its onboard electric motor.
